About Neurotidy

By Mara Ellery · Last reviewed 27 September 2026

Neurotidy publishes plain-language cleaning and organizing systems for people with ADHD, built around how the brain actually handles starting, deciding, remembering and time, rather than around willpower or shame. Everything on the site is written under the pen name Mara Ellery by Neurotidy's founder.

Who writes this

Mara Ellery is the pen name of Neurotidy's founder. One person writes every guide, builds every card and answers the messages. The pen name keeps the brand about the systems rather than one face. There are no credentials behind it, and none are claimed.

The guides come from a specific method. We read and sorted more than 21,000 real ADHD threads about cleaning and home life: the chair of clothes, the sink, the doom pile, the shower nobody can start. The patterns that came up again and again became the systems. Then we checked each mechanism we describe (working memory, time perception, reward and motivation, task initiation) against published research, and every guide lists the papers it leans on, with DOIs, at the end.

Neurotidy is not a clinician. Nothing here is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a substitute for talking to a professional about ADHD, medication or your mental health.

FAQ

Is Mara Ellery a real person?

Mara Ellery is a pen name. The person behind it is Neurotidy's founder, who writes every guide and built the task cards. The name is a pen name so the brand stays about the systems rather than one face. Nothing else about the author is invented: no credentials, no titles, no claimed training.

Is anything on Neurotidy medical advice?

No. Neurotidy is not a clinician and does not diagnose or treat anything. The guides explain mechanisms that published research describes and turn them into practical cleaning systems. If you have questions about ADHD, medication or your mental health, talk to a professional.
